Inspirational People - John Stigers

Reverend Charles C. Stigers (Dad)
Back in a hospital in Oklahoma while recuperating from a freindly fire wound in WWII my father overheard the doctors in the hall discussing his treatment. The younger doctor wanted to do a surgical procedure that the senior staff doctor didn't really think was such a good idea. The conversation ended with the older man saying oh you might as well go ahead he's going to die anyway. Thank you God for bold young doctors.

Many thanks from many people for my father continues even now to live a life of ministry. Retired officially for some time now he is still a gentle perveyor of good counsel. Several of the churches that employed him during my youth couldn't really afford to pay a living wage so to make up the difference dad took on a lot of "odd jobs". I learned, painting, roofing, some plumbing, flooring, sheet rock, concrete work, framing, tile work; well you get the idea; looking back I owe a great debt to my father's can do attitude. It wasn't always clear to me growing up what the appeal was to his choice of profession, it is easy as a child to be drawn to more lucrative things and not to understand. I see more clearly now and admire his life of service to others.

Twi Freedman (sister)
Twi is a little bit ahead of me chronologically. She and her pals bicycle quite a lot. We haven't had too many opportunities to ride together but it has become a thing we can share. Thanks sis for getting me back on a bike and for encouraging me and believing I could make this trip before anyone else did. I'm often a little jealous of the trips that Twi and her friends make, but mostly I just think it is really cool that they ride and see the things and places that they do. I hope that I will continue through this trip and beyond to emulate their enjoyment of cycling. The physical benefits are great and it is such a good way to see more as your passing by.
